Keep Calm and Carry On

"Don't be defeatist, dear, it's very middle class."
- Dowager Countess of Grantham

We're at that awful stage of Reading Season where the end still feels nowhere in sight, despite the crazy hours and the progress we've already made.  We know we'll finish.  We always do. But thinking about all that must occur between now and mailing those big packets is daunting, to say the least.

Here's a short list:
-Finish reading applications (this would be a good start).
-Make decisions.  Lots of them.
-Committee till the cows come home.
-Allocate funding for international students and select the So Scholar.
-Select finalists and scholarship winners for PSP, FIRST, and Harvey S Mudd.
-Double check decisions.  Do they make sense in the context of the individual high schools and geomarkets as well as in the broader pool?  Is our class balanced?
-Enter decision codes into our computer system.  This is supposed to happen automatically, but it didn't, at least not during ED I or ED II.
-Print and assemble admitted student packets.
-Update the admitted student website.
-Print admit letters and have Thyra sign each individually.

Perusing this list, you might be thinking what I'm thinking -- when are we planning to mail, June?  Stuffing admit packets takes two days on its own!  Nope.  We're talking three weeks.  We want letters in your hands by the end of March.

It's going to take all of the Stiff Upper Lip we can muster, and copious amounts of snacks, but we can make it.  Somehow.  Just keep the tea coming.

  1. Your commitment and stiff upper lip are commendable! What ho, good chaps (and ladies!)--
