What's Happening Now

- The "Final Questions" chat with the admitted students and current students Christian, Jennifer, Sagar, and Tasha.  Fun times (and good pizza).

- Our entire professional staff has been scattered for programs across the country.  I got back this morning from six days in the Bay Area, doing college fairs and case studies (sample applications) with juniors (juniors!) and their parents.  I leave again on Sunday for more of the same in SoCal.

- Waiting and watching for the enrollment decision forms from admitted students.  That was the first thing I did upon returning today - even before switching on my computer - was head straight for the mail.  Four more days until the deadline!  Eep!

- President Maria Klawe in the news!  CNN and PBS in one week!  (As if the NYT article wasn't cool enough.)

- This is alumni weekend.  The annual Foster's Run for strawberry donuts (on unicycles) is taking place tomorrow morning.

- Someone went by my window earlier in a motorized children's wagon.  At Mudd, nobody even asks why.

- Classes are winding down and Presentations and Projects Days are next week.  If you want to see Mudders spiffed up and fabulous, these are the events for you.

- We just hired the next crop of senior interviewers - and a full-time summer interviewer too!

- This is also bad because it means this year's senior interviewers are graduating.

- A comprehensive and unbiased poll of four Mudders (see the list in point 1) has just concluded that Clinic is the coolest thing on campus.

- Women's Ultimate is going to nationals!

  1. Do you know whether or not you will be going to the waitlist this year?

  2. I admit to being the mother of one of your senior interviewers (I'll let you guess on which one!) and wanted to share how much I have enjoyed reading about the admission/interview process here on your blog. When Sarah (ooops, cat's out of the bag) was exploring her college options in 2008, these kinds of informational blogs were either not yet available, or I did not know about them. Thanks for all you do to keep prospective and current students (and their parents) up-to-speed!

  3. Hi Tina,

I'm so glad you stopped in! I hope you know how much we love Sarah. I'm so happy for her and her plans next year -- but I am truly going to miss her. You raised an amazing daughter.

  4. RE Waitlist: we have a postmark deadline, so students only have to mail their letters by May 1 (they don't have to be in their office by that date). So it's still too early to give a definitive answer about the waitlist -- we usually wait about a week to make sure we've received every possible deposit. My *guess* is that we will take a handful of students off the waitlist, but I don't know how many or what kind of time frame we might be looking at.
